New Orleans, September 2026. Notes from a day moving through the city.

New Orleans

I spent a September day in New Orleans moving between streetcars, buses, and the ferry. Around the French Market and the French Quarter, I photographed street signs, buildings, historical markers, and the things that caught my attention between stops.

The river crossing was a highlight. Freighters were moving along the Mississippi, and the skyline changed with the light. I video-called home from the boat so my family could see it with me.

Earlier in the day, I had spoken with another passenger about the streetcars and places to visit. After traveling around the city, I unexpectedly ran into him again on the way back. We talked and laughed until it was time to get off.

I recorded the day that evening, while those details were still fresh. What stayed with me was the combination: the city, its transportation, the history along the way, the conversations, and being able to share some of it with home.
